During the qualifying round of the Rowing Pre-Olympics – Latin American Zone, held on the morning of this Friday (16/11), the duo formed by the red-and-blacks Thiago Almeida and Thiago Gomes won second place in the Men's Double Sculls Lightweight event. With a time of 6'30"28, the Brazilians finished behind the Uruguayan team and surpassed the Cubans, gold medalists at the Rio-2007 Pan American Games.

The repechage rounds took place in the afternoon. Now, the red-and-black duo knows who they'll face in the semifinals, which will take place this Saturday, starting at 8:30 a.m., at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.

Saturday's (November 17th) matches won't be easy. Only the top three teams will qualify for Sunday's final. Besides Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Chile, Guatemala, and Peru will also be competing.
