The big day has arrived for the 39 rowers who will be competing in the XV Pan American Games Rio-2007. This Thursday, July 5th, the Brazilian rowing team, which includes eight rowers from Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, will be staying in the Vila apartments.

Anxiety, expectations, and dreams are in the luggage of the Brazilian rowing delegation, which has already brought great joy at the Pan American Games. In 1983, at the Caracas Games, brothers Ronaldo and Ricardo de Carvalho, then rowers for the CRFlamengo, won the long-awaited gold medal for Brazil.

José Carlos Sobral Júnior (Double Skiff – Lightweight), Thiago Gomes (Double Skiff – Lightweight), Leandro Loureiro (Lightweight Four-None), Thiago Almeida (Lightweight Four-None), Nilton Alonço (Eight-With), Renata Görgen (Four Skiff), Kissya Cataldo (Four Skiff) and Déborah Amorim (Single Skiff reserve) are the red-blacks who will be on stage at the biggest sporting event in the Americas.

The Brazilian Rowing Team will arrive at the Pan American Village alongside the Baseball, Football, Hockey and Marathon Swimming delegations.

This Friday, the 6th, the reopening of the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon Rowing Stadium, the venue for the rowing competitions, will take place. The event will take place at 10:30 a.m. and will be attended by Governor Sérgio Cabral Filho; the State Secretary of Sports, Tourism and Recreation, Eduardo Paes; and the Secretary-General of the Rio 2007 Pan American Games Organizing Committee (CO-RIO), Carlos Roberto Osório.
