This Wednesday, May 23, part of the Brazilian rowing team will be traveling to Austria, where they will compete in the First Stage of the Rowing World Cup in Linz. This will be the biggest challenge for the Brazilians before the Rio 2007 Pan American Games, which begin on July 13.
According to the CBR (Brazilian Rowing Confederation) press office, the boats with the best performances to compete in the Rio-2007 Pan American Games will be in the running for medals in the Austrian stage of the Rowing World Cup.
CRFlamengo has a total of seven athletes in the team, not counting the presence of Déborah Amorim, reserve in the single sculls.
Initially, the teams that have the presence of red-blacks heading to Linz are:
4 SEM (men's lightweight): with the red-blacks Thiago Almeida and Leandro Loureiro
Double Skiff (men's lightweight): Thiago Gomes and José Carlos Sobral Júnior
Four Skiff (women's heavyweight): podium promise in the women's category, with Renata Görgen and Kissya Cataldo
The matches for the World Cup stage in Austria will take place between June 1st and 3rd.
The return of Brazilians is scheduled for June 6th.
