Leila and Sandra Pires, the newly formed Flamengo duo that competed in the Xangri-lá, Rio Grande do Sul, stage of the Banco do Brasil Beach Volleyball Circuit, were eliminated in the quarterfinals. As a result, the Flamengo duo finished their participation in the Brazilian Circuit in fifth place.

The red-black duo reached the quarter-finals, but lost to Renata and Talita by 2 sets to 1 (14/18, 25/23 and 20/18).

Now, the red-and-blacks will continue training led by coach Letícia Pessoa on Leblon beach, seeking a spot in the Beijing Olympics. Their chance could come in the second stage of the Brazilian Circuit, from February 21st to 24th, in Santa Catarina (Florianópolis).
