Flamengo, led by coach Arly Cunha, defeated Teresópolis in the opening match of the Adult State Volleyball Championship. The match, held on Saturday at the Flamengo gymnasium court, ended with a 3-1 victory for the home team (25-22 / 25-15 / 18-25 / 28-26).

Flamengo's highlights this season are players Leandro, Alan, Naderson, Vitor, Enzo, Matheus, Fábio and Fernando.

Eight clubs are competing for the 2007 state championship title: Flamengo, Botafogo, Tijuca, Cia.Atlética, Prosport Macaé, Fundação Municipal de Campos, Teresópolis, and Unipli (Plínio Leite University). The 2007 state championship is a round-robin format, with the top four qualifying for the final playoffs.

Flamengo and Teresópolis are the big favorites for the title.
