Sesc RJ Flamengo plays the classic against Fluminense for the Superliga

In the fight for the top spots in the Women's Superliga, Sesc RJ Flamengo has a rematch scheduled with Fluminense, this Friday (31.01), at 21:30 pm, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, for the fifth round of the return leg, with broadcast on SporTV2. Tickets for the match, with home field for the red-black team and a single fan base, are already sold out.
With 33 points in the championship standings, just three behind leaders Sesi Bauru, coach Bernardinho's team arrives confident after beating Pinheiros in straight sets away from home. The group is also excited to feel the nation's special energy in another major derby.
Sesc RJ Flamengo will be aiming for its first victory over Tricolor this season, having lost to its rival, currently sixth, in the first round and in the Campeonato Carioca. Aggressiveness and tactical discipline will be crucial to achieve this.
"Our last game was important to restore the team's confidence. We played a great match. We were very focused, very disciplined, and executed our game plan very well. We need to continue doing that on Friday in such an important match. We'll have to play with focus, point by point. Anything can happen in this Superliga, and we know we have to control our mistakes and put pressure on their team from start to finish," said Canadian setter Brie.
Sesc RJ Flamengo continues to stand out in the Superliga statistics. Middle blockers Lorena and Juju rank second and eighth in the blocking rankings, with 57 and 42 points, respectively. Lorena is also the fifth most efficient in attack (46,95%). Brie is the third best server (16 aces). Libero Laís tops the list of best passers (68,42% efficiency), with captain Michelle in sixth (64,25%). Opposite player Edinara is the sixth highest scorer in the competition, with 232 hits.
Sesc RJ Flamengo reached the top of the podium in the Women's Superliga in the 1997/1998 and 1999/2000 seasons (both in Curitiba), 2005/2006, 2006/2007, 2007/2008, 2008/2009, 2010/2011, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 (in Rio de Janeiro).
The 2024/2025 Superliga brings together 12 teams, which face each other in a home and away match, and the top eight advance to the playoffs.
