Sesc RJ Flamengo was defeated in the classic against Fluminense, this Friday (31.01), at Tijuca Tênis Clube, in a match of the fifth round of the return leg of the Women's Superliga: 3-0, with partial scores of 26-24, 25-20 and 25-21. Rubro-Negro, which is in fifth place in the standings, with 33 points, will now have two weeks without games to seek adjustments and focus on the tough sequence that lies ahead.
Without captain Michelle, who is recovering from a left foot injury, Sesc RJ Flamengo played a strong first set and even had set point at 24-22. However, the team's performance dropped off in the final stretch. This gave Flamengo confidence and turned the game around. This was crucial for the outcome of the match. Opposite player Edinara, the game's top scorer with 18 points, believes they need to keep their heads in the game and continue their work.
"We didn't perform well. We started well, but we didn't know how to deal with the drop in performance at the end of the first set. We'll be patient and keep working. We'll have two weeks without games, and I'm sure we'll come back stronger," said Edinara.
Sesc RJ Flamengo's next challenge will be on February 14th, at 21 pm, against Sesi Bauru, away from home.
