Sesc RJ Flamengo was defeated by Sancor Maringá, this Thursday (February 12.02th), by 3 sets to 1, with partial scores of 25-19, 24-26, 23-25 ​​and 20-25, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, in a match of the sixth round of the second leg of the Women's Superliga. It was only the second defeat for Flamengo in the competition. Leading the standings with 46 points, the Rio de Janeiro team now focuses on the semifinals of the Brazilian Cup.

Without outside hitter Helena, due to the death of her grandmother, coach Bernardinho's team started well, but decreased their intensity and saw the visitors improve. In the fourth set, American outside hitter Simone Lee suffered a sprained left ankle and had to leave the court. The athlete has begun treatment, will remain at rest, and will undergo tests to assess the severity of the injury.

Opposite hitter Tainara, the game's top scorer with 27 points, reminded everyone that the team will have an important break during Carnival to recover physically and mentally, and return even stronger for the rest of the season. 

"Unfortunately, we played far below our usual level. It was an unfortunate night, especially because of Simone's injury. But we won't let it get us down. We'll have a quick rest to get everything back in order and we'll come back stronger, aiming for our goals in the Brazilian Cup and the Superliga," said Tainara.

In the Copa Brasil semi-final, Sesc RJ Flamengo will face Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde on February 27th at 18:30 PM at the Moringão gymnasium in Londrina (PR).
