Sesc RJ Flamengo will play its first game of 2025 this Tuesday (January 07.01th) at 18 p.m. against Brasília Vôlei at Tijuca Tênis Clube, broadcast on SporTV2, in the opening round of the Women's Superliga return leg. Seeking three points to stay in contention at the top of the standings, coach Bernardinho's team will be counting on the energy of the passionate Flamengo fans. After a quick break for the holiday season, Sesc RJ Flamengo returned to the field full of energy for the upcoming challenges of the season. The Rio de Janeiro team finished the first half of the season in fifth place with 23 points, but only three points behind leaders Dentil Praia Clube. 

Middle blocker Lorena, who has already blocked 40 goals this season and is second in blocking statistics, as well as ninth in scoring overall, sees the red-and-black team constantly improving. Against Brasília, she expects the group to put into practice everything they've been working on over the past few weeks. 

"We're super motivated for the second round of the Superliga and for the upcoming challenges ahead, starting with Brasília, which is a very tactically organized team. I believe we've already made a significant leap forward for a squad that has been significantly revamped, but we want to go much further. And we've been working in that direction. I'm happy to collaborate in attack and contribute to strengthening our blocking and defense relationship, but I guarantee that the numbers reflect a continuous effort from everyone here," said Lorena.

In addition to the middle blocker's outstanding performance, setter Brie is the second-best server (14 aces). Libero Laís tops the list of best passers (70,19% efficiency), with outside hitter Michelle in fourth (65,75%). Opposite hitter Edinara is the seventh-highest scorer in the competition, with 169 hits. Middle blocker Juju is fifth in blocking with 34 points.

Sesc RJ Flamengo reached the top of the podium in the national competition in the 1997/1998 and 1999/2000 seasons (both in Curitiba), 2005/2006, 2006/2007, 2007/2008, 2008/2009, 2010/2011, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 (in Rio de Janeiro).

The 2024/2025 Superliga brings together 12 teams, which face each other in a home and away match, and the top eight advance to the playoffs.
