After winning the Taça Brasil in Londrina, Paraná, last week, Sesc RJ Flamengo will begin its quest for its 20th Campeonato Carioca title. The debut will take place this Wednesday (October 01.10st) at 20 p.m. against Tijuca Tênis Clube in Tijuca. This will be the Flamengo's first match in front of its home crowd in Rio de Janeiro in the 2025/2026 season. Tickets can be purchased through the Guichê Web website.

Despite the short preparation time for the full squad, the group is motivated by the escalating progress against opponents from the national elite. A key reinforcement for the match will be coach Bernardinho, who was sidelined last week due to the death of his mother, Dona Maria Ângela. Both the coaching staff and the players see the team on the right track, but are aware that there are many adjustments to be made.

"I'm very happy with our team's energy and dedication to each challenge. Winning the Taça Brasil was super important for us to gain competitive rhythm. We're still at the beginning of a process, so each stage we win is very valuable. But now it's all over again. We know that the Campeonato Carioca promises great matches. Tijuca is very strong this year and Fluminense is always a tough opponent. We'll go in focused on building our momentum game after game in pursuit of this title," said libero and captain Laís, remembering that Tijuca beat Fluminense in their debut in tie-breaker, last Monday (29.09).

The 2024 Campeonato Carioca features three teams: Sesc RJ Flamengo, Fluminense, and Tijuca Tênis Clube. They all face off in a home-and-away format, with the top two competing for the title.
