Sesc RJ Flamengo confirmed its positive momentum and secured another victory in the Women's Superliga. Despite a scare in the third set, coach Bernardinho's team defeated Pinheiros 3-1, with scores of 25-17, 25-14, 21-25, and 25-20, at Tijuca Tênis Clube. It was the third consecutive positive result for the Rubro-Negro, who reached 12 points and took second place, behind only Praia Clube.
After an impressive performance in the first two sets, the Rio team suffered a setback and allowed Pinheiros to rise, but managed to overcome difficult situations with what has been the hallmark of the project: collective strength.
Opposite hitter Edinara, with 19 points, was the game's top scorer. Setter Brie distributed well and took home the VivaVôlei Trophy for best on court. Outside hitter Karina played efficiently throughout the match and, with eight points, also played a key role.
"It was a tough match, but a very good one. I think we did well with our serving and passing today, and that made the difference. We kept improving and adapting well to the situations. The last set was really good; I think it showed a lot of connection, and the attack was aggressive. It was a very important result. Our group is still young, but we just need to keep working," Brie analyzed.
Sesc RJ Flamengo's next challenge is against Minas, on Tuesday (12.11), at 21:30 pm, at Maracanãzinho.
