Sesc RJ Flamengo consolidated its great campaign in the qualifying phase of the Women's Superliga with a home victory and celebrations from the Flamengo fans. This Tuesday (March 24.03th), coach Bernardinho's team defeated Batavo Mackenzie 3-0, with sets of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-16, at the Tijuca Tennis Club, reaching its 19th victory in 22 games. With this result, the Rio de Janeiro team secured the overall lead and will now go all out for the playoffs.
In the quarterfinals, which will be played in a best-of-three format, Sesc RJ Flamengo will face Batavo Mackenzie again, who advanced in eighth place. The first match is scheduled for Tuesday (March 31.03st) in Belo Horizonte. The second match will take place on Friday (April 03.04rd) at Maracanãzinho. If necessary, the third match will be held on April 8th, again at Maracanãzinho.
Outside hitter Simone Lee and opposite hitter Tainara led the offensive plays. The American left the court as the top scorer of the match, with 22 points, while the Olympic medalist with the Brazilian National Team scored 20 and won her third consecutive VivaVôlei Trophy for best player on the court.
Also noteworthy is the return of libero and captain Laís, recovered from discomfort in her right knee and radiant after the victory. She was included in the squad for the first time since recovering from the injury, suffered in January, and participated in reception duties, while Victoria played in defense.
"It was a wonderful and super important result. It's the final stretch, and reaching the playoffs with a good result is super important. For me, the outcome is even more positive because I'm returning and helping the team, being able to participate on the court and share the responsibility with Vivi, who had been holding everything together very well. So, it was super special. I'm super proud of my team and happy to be back," said Laís.
