Sesc RJ Flamengo closed out 2024 with a significant victory in the Women's Superliga. In Belo Horizonte, coach Bernardinho's team defeated Batavo Mackenzie 3-1, with scores of 19-25, 25-17, 25-13, and 25-15, in the final round of the first half. With this, Flamengo returned to fourth place overall with 23 points and awaits the remaining matches to determine whether they can secure their current position, which would guarantee home-court advantage in the Copa Brasil playoffs in January.

After a first set that fell short of their usual performance, Sesc RJ Flamengo managed to serve better in the second set, leverage some of their strengths, and reduce their errors. As a result, they dominated the remainder of the match.

Middle blocker Lorena led the team in scoring with 20 hits and received the VivaVôlei Trophy for best on court. She also made a point of recognizing the outstanding work of libero Laís, who put on a show from the backcourt and helped create several counterattacks.

"Our group has been working together like a big family. Nothing is possible without each other's support. Laís is a libero who helps us a lot, and it's rare for an athlete in her position to be recognized as the best in the game. I've long thought she deserved it, so I'm sharing this award with her," said Lorena, who received smiles and praise from her teammate.

"I'm grateful, but that's our group. Lorena played a great game. We've performed as a unit. It's our style to play together, and that's clear with a result like this, which gives us confidence for next year," said Laís.

Sesc RJ Flamengo returns to play on January 7th, at 18:30 pm, against Brasília, at Tijuca Tênis Clube.
