Sesc RJ Flamengo started the year 2025 in style. In the reunion with the fans after the New Year's celebrations, coach Bernardinho's team showed its collective strength to overcome Brasília this Tuesday (07.01), by 3 sets to 0, partials of 25/18, 25/19 and 25/18, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, and rise to the vice-leadership of the Women's Superliga, with 26 points.
The recipe for victory was a homogeneous distribution by setter Brie, who was awarded the VivaVôlei Trophy for best on court, in addition to an outstanding performance by the team in blocking, a skill that yielded 15 points for the home team, against just two for their opponents.
After a well-deserved break with her family in her home country during the holiday season, the Canadian showed her talent and brought all her attackers into the match. Outside hitter Karina was the top scorer with 15 points, followed by opposite hitter Edinara with 12, and middle blockers Lorena and Juju, both with nine. Michelle contributed six and showed excellent quality from the baseline.
"I'm so happy. I spent an incredible week in Canada with my family. When we're on the court, we work hard all the time, but Bernardo knows the importance of achieving balance in our lives, and being with them was super important to me. I came back and only had a few days to train, but everyone helped me prepare for this match. I felt ready to give my best. I've been very happy here. I love these girls, and working with this group is a source of great joy," celebrated Brie.
Sesc RJ Flamengo travels this week to Paraná, where they will face Unilife Maringá, on Friday (10.01), at 21 pm, at the Chico Neto gym, in Maringá.
