Sesc RJ Flamengo debuted with a victory in the 2024/2025 Women's Superliga. On Monday night (21.10), coach Bernardinho's team beat Brasília 3 sets to 1, with partial scores of 25/16, 25/20, 23/25 and 25/22, in Taguatinga (DF), and added the first three points in the competition.

Collective strength was the difference for the red-and-black team, which started the match solidly but struggled with the home team's serve and defense. Middle blocker Juju was the top scorer for the Rio de Janeiro team, with 14 points, followed by opposite number Edinara, with 12. Also noteworthy were outside hitters Karina, who came out strong in the third set and scored six points, and Michelle, who scored nine and provided excellent depth from the baseline.

"The Brasília girls were more aggressive on serve in the last two sets and ended up balancing the game with blocking and defense. We knew they would come with a high volume of play and that we would need a lot of patience. They play with the crowd behind them and have gained confidence, but our team deserves congratulations. I'm very happy to be able to help the team. A debut is always difficult, especially away from home, but we kept a cool head to achieve this victory," said Michelle.

Sesc RJ Flamengo returns to the court on Friday (25.10), at 18:30 pm, against Maringá, at Tijuca Tênis Clube.
