Sesc RJ Flamengo put on a show in front of the Maranhão crowd and secured three more points in the Women's Superliga. On Friday night (February 06.02th), coach Bernardinho's team played with concentration from start to finish and beat Brasília Vôlei in straight sets, with scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-19, in a packed Castelinho gymnasium in São Luís (MA).
With this result, Sesc RJ Flamengo reached 46 points and maintained its lead in the standings, five points ahead of Gerdau Minas.
With setter Giovana returning to the starting lineup after being rested in the victory over Tijuca due to inflammation in her Achilles tendons, Flamengo dominated from start to finish. The attackers' excellent performance was noteworthy. Opposite hitter Tainara was the top scorer of the match with 17 points (16 from attacks, with 53% efficiency), followed by American outside hitter Simone Lee with 14 (11 from attacks, with 52%), while middle blocker Lorena scored 11 (seven from attacks, with an excellent 78%) and took home the VivaVôlei Trophy for best player on the court.
"We came here very focused on playing a consistent game and we succeeded. I was very happy to contribute to the victory, but even happier to see that our hard work every day is paying off. We are focused on one battle at a time and next week we have another one, against Maringá, so now it's time to take a breather to come back with total focus," Lorena analyzed.
Sesc RJ Flamengo's next challenge is on Thursday (February 12.02th), at 19:30 pm, against Sancor Maringá, at Tijuca Tênis Clube.
