Sesc RJ Flamengo is the new leader of the Women's Superliga. This Tuesday (December 09.12th), coach Bernardinho's team defeated Fluminense 3-0, with sets of 30-28, 25-21 and 25-21, at Hebraica, and reached nine games unbeaten in the competition. With 25 points in the standings, the Rubro-Negro surpassed Gerdau Minas, which has 23.
The victory was built thanks to a good volume of play and the imposing presence of outside hitter Simone Lee in the attacks. The American was once again the top scorer of the match, with 26 points, and took home the VivaVôlei Trophy for best player on the court for the fifth time, the third consecutive time, in her debut season in Brazilian volleyball. Outside hitter Karina and opposite hitter Tainara scored 12 points each.
"The most important thing is that we won as a team. Victory is always the goal, more than individual points. Giovana made my job easier. Both she and Vivian are great setters and make my life easier. So, I'm very happy with everything we're building together. We've been training intensely, and this victory and the championship lead are the results of our effort," said Simone Lee.
Sesc RJ Flamengo returns to the court on Friday (December 12.12th), against Renasce Sorocaba, at 21:30 pm, at Tijuca Tênis Clube. Tickets can be purchased through the Guichê Web website.
