Sesc RJ Flamengo started the 2025/2026 season the way the Red-Black Nation likes it: with a lot of spirit and at the top of the podium. On Thursday night (25.09), the Rio de Janeiro team secured the Taça Brasil title by beating Gerdau Minas 3 sets to 2, with partial scores of 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 28-26 and 15-10, at the Moringão gym, in Londrina. 

After defeating Sancor Maringá and Londrina Vôlei 3-0, Sesc RJ Flamengo faced its toughest opponent. The Minas Gerais team took a 2-0 lead, but some smart moves from assistant coach Helio Griner, who replaced Bernardinho in the competition, gave the Rio de Janeiro team a boost. Setter Vivian and outside hitter Mikaela, just 17, showed a strong connection with their teammates and were the stars of the match, alongside opposite hitter Tainara.

"In my mind, the difference I made on the court was in my energy, in pulling the team together, in changing the group's attitude. And everyone came along! I'm very privileged to play with so many experienced people, not just the girls, but with a staff that is extraordinary. I think all of this adds a lot to me," celebrated Mikaela.

More than just the trophy, the tournament served to prepare the squad for the season's main challenges, especially the Campeonato Carioca and the Superliga. 

"Winning is great. Our goal here was to win. These were three games and three very important victories for our growth. When everyone has the same energy, wanting to win, there's no loose ball. The girls gave me their full support. Every tournament will be like this. Whoever's on the bench will come in to help, and whoever's on the court will try to give their best. I think the group's strength, energy, and connection will be our hallmarks this season," Tainara assessed.

Sesc RJ Flamengo returns to training with its sights set on its debut in the Campeonato Carioca. The debut will take place on October 1st at 20 p.m. against Tijuca Tênis Clube at the Tijuca gymnasium.
