With grit and resilience, Sesc RJ Flamengo earned three more points in the Women's Superliga. This Friday (10.01), coach Bernardinho's team managed to escape the traps set by Unilife Maringá, beating the Paraná team 3 sets to 1, with partial scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-15 and 25-21, at the Chico Neto gymnasium, and remained in the fight for the top spots.
With 29 points, Rubro-Negro rose to third place, behind only Dentil Praia Clube and Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde, and awaits the other results of the round to try to establish itself in the G4.
The victory meant revenge for the same-score defeat against Maringá in the first round of the competition at Tijuca Tênis Clube. And the Rio team once again made the difference, with a balanced distribution from setter Brie and an effective serve.
Middle blocker Lorena, with 16 points, was Sesc RJ Flamengo's top scorer, followed by opposite Edinara, with 14, middle blocker Juju, who won her first VivaVôlei Trophy in her career, with 12 points, and outside hitter Michelle, also with 12. Also noteworthy was libero Laís, who put on a show in defense and showed great consistency in reception.
"I'm very happy that we came away with the victory and the three points. It was a very important result, as we were feeling negative after the loss to them in the first round. We trained hard to play well and win. The VivaVôlei Trophy is special, as it's my first. I'd like to thank everyone who helped me get here, especially when I was just starting out," said Juju.
Sesc RJ Flamengo's next challenge is against Sesi Vôlei Bauru, next Thursday (16.01), at 18 pm, away from home, in the quarterfinals of the Copa Brasil.
