Sesc RJ Flamengo provided a complete party for the red-black fans in their first challenge of the season at the Maracanãzinho gymnasium. This Tuesday (12.11), coach Bernardinho's team defeated the current champion Minas by 3 sets to 1, with partial scores of 25/14, 19/25, 25/13 and 25/23, guaranteeing the fourth consecutive victory in the Women's Superliga and taking over the vice-leadership of the competition.
With 15 points in the standings, the same number as leaders Praia Clube, the Rio de Janeiro team gained even more confidence on a night that featured a performance by singer Bucheca to entertain the crowd. Sesc RJ Flamengo got into the swing of things and put on a high-level performance in the first and third sets. The result was driven by strong blocking, a key skill that yielded 17 points, and serving, which repeatedly broke the opponent's reception.
Once again, the team excelled. Opposite player Edinara was the match's top scorer with 18 points, while middle blocker Lorena, with 13, including six blocks, won the VivaVôlei Trophy for best on court. She emphasized the importance of fundamentals.
"It's a victory that crowns a special moment, a moment of significant development for our team. We studied hard for this match and were able to put our plans into practice. I'm very happy to be evolving alongside this group, which has such great energy. We're helping each other a lot, especially in difficult moments. Blocking was super important and is something we've been training intensely, as it's been a good path. Everyone scored points in this skill today," analyzed Lorena.
Sesc RJ Flamengo returns to the court this Friday (15.11), against Fluminense, at 21:30 pm, at Hebraica.
