Sesc RJ Flamengo debuted with a victory in the 2025/2026 Women's Superliga. On Monday night (20.10), coach Bernardinho's team beat Paulistano Barueri by 3 sets to 0, with partial scores of 25-12, 25-19 and 26-24, at Tijuca Tênis Clube, and added the first three points in the competition. 

Without middle blocker Juju, who was suffering from tonsillitis, Rubro-Negro had Serbian Maša Kirov among the starters and maintained their strong team spirit, with everyone supporting each other from start to finish. The defense was a standout, generating numerous counterattacks. On the offensive side, American outside hitter Simone Lee stood out, leaving the court as the match's top scorer with 24. Opposite Tainara and outside hitter Karina both scored 12, while Kirov contributed 10.

"It was a great game. It's great to fight alongside this team and see everyone work hard to achieve their dream. It's incredible. The fans were great, the atmosphere here is always great, so I'm really happy. There's always a lot of excitement and excitement at a debut. So, I wanted to help the girls bring that energy. They all played great defense and helped me on offense. Volleyball is a team sport for a reason, so it's special to play alongside this group that works so hard every day," said Simone Lee.

The red-black team's next challenge is on October 31st, at 21 pm, against Dentil Praia Clube, at Maracanãzinho.

Sesc RJ Flamengo reached the top of the podium in the national competition in the 1997/1998 and 1999/2000 seasons (both in Curitiba), 2005/2006, 2006/2007, 2007/2008, 2008/2009, 2010/2011, 2012/2013, 2013/2014, 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 (in Rio de Janeiro).

The 2025/2026 Superliga features 12 teams, which will face each other in a home-and-away format. The quarterfinals will feature the top eight teams from the qualifying phase in a best-of-three playoff. The semifinals will also be best-of-three, while the final will be a single-game series.
