Sesc RJ Flamengo defeats Tijuca Tennis Club in its debut in the Rio de Janeiro Championship

Sesc RJ Flamengo started the Campeonato Carioca with an impressive performance in front of its fans. This Wednesday (October 01.10st), coach Bernardinho's team defeated Tijuca Tênis Clube 3-0, with partial scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-14, in Tijuca. With the three points, the Rubro-Negro took the lead in the state championship, which also has Fluminense in the dispute.
The fans cheered the athletes from start to finish and were thrilled by the team's rhythm, which gave Tijuca no chance. The opponent was coming off a tie-break win against Tricolor in their opening match, but their serving and blocking helped Sesc RJ Flamengo control the action. American outside hitter Simone Lee, playing her first official match in the club's colors after recovering from a cut on her foot, was the top scorer with 15 points, followed by opposite Tainara with 14. Outside hitter Karina and middle blocker Juju both scored 9.
"It's really great to be here, feel this atmosphere, and be able to play with these girls for the first time officially. It was really exciting because last week I couldn't get on the court and was just cheering. And being able to play in the tournament now is really cool. It's always good to face a good, tough opponent, and I knew we would have to impose our pace. I'm super excited because I know the fans were eager to help us get this important victory, and we did it," said Simone Lee.
Sesc RJ Flamengo's next challenge is the classic against Fluminense, this Friday (October 03.10rd), at 20 pm, again at Tijuca Tênis Clube. Ticket sales begin this Thursday (October 02.10nd), at 10 am, with the link posted on the team's social media.
In the Campeonato Carioca, the three participants face each other in a home and away match, and the top two compete for the cup.
