Holiday season in full swing in volleyball competitions

Flamengo is counting on strong athletes to stay in the fight for the Rio Volleyball Cup title.

The vacation season for professional volleyball players playing abroad is in full swing. Some of Rio's top athletes playing abroad have been doing well representing their local clubs in the Rio Men's Volleyball Cup.

Last Friday (24/06) a special training session was held on the court of the Togo Renan Soares gym – Kanella, at the CRF headquarters, with the presence of top players such as Rafael (setter – ParisVoley), Guilherme (setter – Sada/Betim), Leandrão (opposite – Latina/Italy), Marcelão (ParisVoley), Luis Roque (Greece), Guilherme Barbosa (Argentina/Qatar), Benassi (Spain), in addition to the participation of the Flamengo youth team.

In the second leg of the Copa Rio final, held this Sunday (June 2th), Flamengo was defeated by Unipli by 24 sets to 06. The game was balanced, with both teams playing well and alternating the lead in the sets. The 3th and final set was dominated by Unipli.

In the first game of the final, played in Gávea, the red-black team, led by coach Arly Cunha, won the match 1 sets to 3.

The Copa Rio aims to prepare and generate greater interest for the State Championship, which will begin in August.
