By Communication - Flamengo - inIt's a decision! Flamengo and Grêmio play the second leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores semifinal this Wednesday (23), at 21:30 pm, at Maracanã. Working together with Flamengo, security agencies, the City Hall and the State Government have prepared a series of initiatives to improve fan access to the stadium. For the game, there will be street closures, ticket checkpoints, and double the security staff normally required for smaller games. There will be 800 military police officers and 346 traffic guards. The gates will open at 18:30 pm. Traffic restrictions begin at 18 pm. Entry with ticket cards will not be permitted, and fans MUST exchange their tickets at one of the exchange points. this link.
All the details of the logistics for the match were announced at a press conference on Monday morning (21), at the FERJ headquarters. Present were Severiano Braga (Flamengo's Game and Stadium Operations Manager and Maracanã General Director), Major Silvio Luiz (BEPE commander), Marcelo Viana (FERJ Competitions Director), Felipe Michel (Rio's Secretary of Quality of Life and Events), Cláudio Varela (Public Prosecutor of the MP/RJ), Gustavo Oliveira (CET-Rio advisor), Carlos Cristo (Deputy Director of Ordering of the Municipal Guard and Gutemberg de Paula (Secretary of Public Order).
"The BEPE (Specialized Stadium Policing Battalion) will manage the internal and external staffing levels as a whole. We will have the sixth battalion manning the perimeter at Maracanã. The fourth battalion will also have reinforced staff. All access roads will be covered. We estimate the military police force will be around 800 officers. This is much higher than what we deploy for other Libertadores and Brazilian Championship matches. Our main objective is to deploy ground police so that only fans with tickets can access the stadium," says Major Silvio Luiz, BEPE commander.
"From the moment we learned we'd qualified for the Libertadores semifinals, we held meetings with security agencies, city hall, and the government. All eyes are on Maracanã, especially because of this match and the stadium hosting next year's Libertadores final. We're all prepared to serve our fans in the best possible way," emphasizes Severiano Braga, Flamengo's Games and Stadium Manager.

TRANSPORT
The subway will have a special scheme:
MetrôRio will extend its operating hours and provide additional trains. Additionally, the company will increase the number of security and ticket office staff at stations in the city center and around the stadium.
MetrôRio is asking fans to board the system early. Maracanã and São Cristóvão stations will have flow guides.
After the game, passenger boarding at Maracanã and São Cristóvão stations will be extended by one hour. The remaining stations will remain open for disembarkation only. The Surface Metro extension lines (Botafogo–Gávea and Antero de Quental–Gávea) will operate until the last train arrives at these stations.

Vehicles must use the following alternative routes:
Coming from the Center and South Zone
• To Tijuca, use the Paulo de Frontin and Satamini routes or follow Praça da Bandeira, Rua Pará/Rua Paraíba and Rua Mariz e Barros;
• For Vila Isabel and Grajaú, use the routes above and then Rua Major Ávila and Rua Felipe Camarão;
• For the Greater Méier region, use the Rua Visconde de Niterói route.
Coming from Tijuca, Grajaú, Vila Isabel and surrounding areas
• For the Center and South Zone, use the Conde de Bonfim – Haddock Lobo route.
Coming from Greater Meier
• For the Center and South Zone, use the Rua Visconde de Niterói route.
SURROUNDING RESIDENTS
Access for vehicles belonging to residents of the immediate surroundings of Maracanã - Prof. Eurico Rabelo, Visconde de Itamarati, Isidro de Figueiredo, Artur Menezes and Conselheiro Olegário streets - will be done by accessing Av. Paula Sousa and R. Prof. Eurico Rabelo, upon presentation of proof of residence.
Due to the large number of pedestrians in the blocked area, residents are asked to, if possible, adjust their travel times, avoiding driving during the closed hours.
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS
• Use public transport (metro and train) to arrive and leave the event;
• Taxis, vans and unaccredited vehicles will not pass through the blockades;
• Residents must bring proof of residence.
CET-Rio Teams
To accommodate the expected crowds and minimize traffic impacts, the traffic operation will involve 145 personnel, including Municipal Guards, CET-Rio controllers, and support teams, with 10 operational vehicles and 20 motorcycles. They will work to maintain traffic flow, prevent illegal parking, manage intersections, guide pedestrians, and enforce roadblocks throughout the event.
17 mobile and fixed variable message panels will also be used to inform about the times of the various closures and alternative routes.
No parking areas will be created for the event, which, combined with the various planned closures, discourages the use of private vehicles. The SEOP (Public Order Secretariat) will deploy tow trucks based at strategic points and operating within the event area to curb illegal parking and ensure traffic flow. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed to municipal storage facilities. Additionally, five tow trucks (light and heavy) from CET-Rio will be positioned to clear roadways in the event of a vehicle breakdown in the area.
